Miley Cyrus is undeniably a powerhouse in today’s music scene, but can she do justice to one of the all-time classics by Blondie? The fearless diva didn’t hold back when she tried to answer that question by covering the 1978 smash hit “Heart of Glass” at the 2020 iHeart Festival.
Looking every bit as glamorous as the original artist Debbie Harry, Miley unleashed her powerful voice in this live performance. With her band nailing the iconic tune behind her, Miley used her trademark vocals to add her unique flavor to the cover. But did it measure up?
Miley’s take definitely had a stronger feel than the original, with just a hint of the singers gravelly strength coming through. While Blondie seems to be singing almost off-hand in the original with a seemingly carefree attitude, Miley looks and feels like a glamorous panther in her performance, singing with a hint of a controlled growl.
